Another "Popular" Sunscreen Found To Have Dangerous Carcinogen

If you're on our email list than you might remember that email I sent you about Benzene, the cancerous ingredient found in household sunscreens? Well, we’re back again with some not-so-great news. According to the LA Times, Scientists have been urging the FDA and U.S. regulators to pull some sunscreens from the market.

Coppertone, Banana Boat, Neutrogena. Recognize any of these names? Scientists are petitioning to remove all sunscreens not only containing Benzene but now also dangerous carcinogen Octocrylene. Having trouble pronouncing it? Let us break it down for you.

“Products made with the chemical may contain benzophenone, a suspected carcinogen that also can interfere with key hormones and reproductive organs,” according to a group led by Craig Downs, executive director of the nonprofit Haereticus Environmental Laboratory, which studies risks to health and the environment.

It’s estimated that 2,400 sunscreen products are made with Octocrylene and well, that’s alarming. Downs states “The FDA doesn’t know what their safety is and it’s unconscionable that the FDA would allow something that we don’t know if it’s safe or not.”

At DermaQuest, we like to provide you with quality products, but more importantly, peace of mind.
